OSPRI names Mike Stenhouse 1st executive director

PROVIDENCE – Mike Stenhouse, former Boston Red Sox player, has been named the first executive director of the Ocean State Policy Research Institute, according to a news release on Tuesday.

Bill Felkner, who founded the center-right organization in 2007, said he expects Stenhouse to increase OSPRI’s influence on policy decisions.

Stenhouse served as chairman for the 2010 RI Clean Slate campaign and as vice president on the Rhode Island Special Olympics board of directors. He also has an “extensive business background” and a degree in economics from Harvard University.

Earlier this year, Stenhouse founded RefoundRI.org, a fiscally conservative educational organization.

“I am honored to be provided with this opportunity to further OSPRI’s mission of shining the light on the consequences of current and proposed public policy,” said Stenhouse.
